Uganda jail break: Greater than 200 prisoners escape Moroto facility

Greater than 200 prisoners have escaped from a jail in north-east Uganda, officers say, bringing the native city to a standstill whereas safety forces attempt to observe them down.

The inmates reportedly killed a soldier after they broke out of the ability in Moroto earlier than heading for the hills.

The military and jail officers are pursuing the escapees, who reportedly made off with 15 weapons and ammunition.

A military spokesperson mentioned two inmates had been captured and two killed.

The jail facility is constructed on the foothills of Mount Moroto, on the sting of the city. Native studies say the shoot-out has introduced enterprise in Moroto to a standstill.

Moroto is the most important city in Karamoja, a restive area with a historical past of cattle rustling and gun violence, the BBC’s Endurance Atuhaire studies from Kampala.
